Vain by Fisher Amelie – post reading impressions

Hello my Dears,

I’ve missed you  and hopefully you’ve missed me as well 😀

For the past 2 days, I’ve been reading a book which practically left me speechless.

It definitely impressed me with how well it was written, the story it related and the images it created in my mind. This is one of the best YA novels I’ve read in a long time and I definitely recommend it to you if you haven’t read it yet.

The first thing that caught my attention when I found it on goodreads (link to the book) was the unconventional description that it had (see below) and I told myself that I HAVE to read because I was thrilled to find the story behind the cover – and I loved it.

I won’t tell you the summary or the main ideas of the book, because that will basically spoil all the reading pleasure, but I will post the description below and tell you that this book is soooo much more than it promises.

I would definitely love it if this book made it to a movie because I feel like it would be a pretty nice story to be told, but nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the book because it moved me deeply.

Let me know your post reading impressions by commenting here! 😉

If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah…then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price…And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
